Zhang Baotong, a native of Sundian Town, Xiangcheng City, Henan Province, was born in 1958 and joined the army in 1975. He studied at the PLA Academy of military education and the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of social sciences. He is now a member of the Standing Committee of the all China Youth Federation, a member of the Chinese Calligrapher Association, a professor of the training center of the Chinese Calligrapher Association, a visiting professor of calligraphy at China University of political science and law, and an honorary chairman of the China Japan hard pen Friendship Association.
